Novo Nordisk Foundation. Art History Grants

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has published their call for 2018/19. Deadline is 16th of January 2019 at 2pm.

Changes in the procedure may occur, so please read the website again before deadline. Applications that are handed in after the in-house deadline may be rejected.

Mads Øvlisen postdoc fellowships

Deadline for applying for hosting at IKK is Monday December 3rd at 12 noon. 

If you wish to apply for a postdoc position based on IKK you need to apply for a hosting commitment from the Head of Department.

In order to apply you must send the following documents to ikk-forsk@hum.ku.dk by December 3rd:

  • Application to be hosted at IKK
  • A short project description of max. 1 page (2400 keystrokes)
  • A timeline of 1/2 page 
  • Staffing plan in template (this provides a overview of your project employment that we use to make a salary budget for your application. Please note that the earliest possible starting date is June 1st regardless of what is stated in the call)
  • Summary of Academic Employments in template (this is used to calculate your seniority and it is important that you state period and working hours for each employment - in estimates if you do not have the precise information) 

Your application will be processed by our Head of Dept. after which research support officer Tenna Lyhne Iversen will return to you with feedback and information on the next step in the proces. 

Your salary budget will be returned to you on December 21 together with information on how to draft an operating expense budget in a fixed template to be handed in on January 2nd. You will receive your final budget together with a formal housing confirmation on January 11th.

Mads Øvlisen PhD Scholarships with enrollment and employment at IKK

Deadline for applying for hosting at IKK is Monday December 3rd at 12 noon. 

If you wish to apply for a PhD position based on IKK you need to apply for a hosting commitment from the Head of Department (Praxix based PhD applicants and PhD applicants applying with employmet outside IKK must follow a different procedure, see below).

In order to apply you must send the following documents to ikk-forsk@hum.ku.dk by December 3rd:

  • Application to be hosted at IKK
  • A project description of app. 1 page
  • A timeline of max. 1 page incl. a request for PhD councillor and starting date - September 1, 2018 or February 1, 2019
  • A copy of your formal education documents - master diploma or the like 
  • A CV and if relevant a publication list
  • Summary of Academic Employments in template (this is used to calculate your seniority and it is important that you state period and working hours for each employment - in estimates if you do not have the precise information) 

The relevant documents will be forwarded to the PhD School at the Faculty of Humanities in order for their office to evaluate your possible enrollment.

Mads Øvlisen PhD Scholarships with enrollment at the PhD School at the Faculty of Humanities and external employment (museums, art academies etc.)


PRAXIS BASED PhD APPLICANTS must apply through the Royal Art Academy. Find information on how to apply on their website: Kunstakademiet - Praktical information (deadline December15). Please contact the Art Academy if you have questions on their procedures. If relevant another institution outside IKK can also be host institution.

The deadline for applying for an evaluation of possible enrollment for all other appliants with external employment is December 7th at 12 noon. 

If you wish to apply for a PhD and your employment is based outside IKK you must apply for an evaluation of your possible enrollment at the PhD School at the Faculty of Humanities (PhD applicants with employment at IKK must follow a different procedure, see above).

Tuition fee: In the application budget for Novo Nordisk Foundation you must fill in a tuition fee of 216.000 kr (72.000 kr/year) in your application budget. Of this, you can apply for a small part of 36.000 kr for travels in relation to your education, should you get the grant.
