From 2010 on, he succeeded the worlds-wide first chair of video, affiliated at the prestigious Art Academy Düsseldorf, Germany. In honor of the 60th birthday of the artist, the anthology of seminal texts and a unique collection of video documents shall illuminate the exemplary role and importance of Marcel Odenbach´s artistic practice from the perspectives of art history, media theory, cultural studies, film science, complemented by curatorial, ethnological, semiotic approaches, as well as those of gender- and performance studies. The anthology will be published in the context of the EVA - Edition Video Art. The purpose of the series (founded in 2012) lies in the promotion of the sustainable research and dissemination of video art. The internationally renewed scholars will continue to provide sound research results related to their experience of testing of innovative and interdisciplinary methodological approaches.
