How do we work with art's changing digital behaviors in our research? This question cues an invitation for a mini-seminar initiated as an informal meeting between colleagues across IKK with interests and engagements in the broad concept and field of digital art. Many of us work with digital art, whether we attend to digital art objects, phenomena or sound, digital culture and infrastructures in art, digital materiality, virtual exhibitions, digital methods and tools in art research, production and archiving, digitalization of analog art, or digital modes of performativity. Taking off in digital art theory that characterizes digital art by its behaviors - such as e.g. interactivity, connectivity, computability (Graham & Cook 2010, Paul 2008), but also live, social, participative (Graham 2016), among others, the seminar will address more broadly how changing behaviors in art with the digital informs and affects our research. Following an introductory presentation on digital behaviors in art, the mini-seminar will be structured as an informal roundtable with five-minutes reflections by participants, sharing our work with or in relation to digital art in response to the opening question. We will then discuss connections between our inroads to digital art and the challenges art's digital behaviors might pose to our research frameworks and epistemologies.

The mini-seminar comes out of the Digital Culture research cluster as a step towards strengthening research collaboration and shaping a stronger digital art profile at the department. You are invited to join an inspiration-oriented research conversation that hopefully will illuminate both connections and differences between our approaches and spark questions for continued conversation and activities on digital art.
