In January 2024, I handed in my PhD dissertation under the title 'Between Parnassus and Calvary. A Literary History of the Early Modern Martyr Drama'. It investigates how the literary models of classical tragedy and martyr story converged in a wave of martyr theatre in 16th and 17th century Europe, focusing on its Spanish, French, and German vernacular traditions.
In reading these dramas, I am interested in how modern literature and theatre developed conceptually and institutionally in negotiation with religious aesthetic forms.
As part of the project, I have set up a catalogue of martyr dramas between 15-1700. It is published here:
https://zenodo.org/records/10071421
The catalogue currently counts 234 pieces in French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Latin, Catalan, English, Italian, and Danish I receive any suggestions for this or my project in general gratefully.

I write and edit for The Danish Encyclopedia (www.lex.dk) on all subjects related to German literature before 1720.
