Women make up a fragment of Wikipedia editors worldwide. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity, however, is not. Content seems to be skewed by the lack of female participation. That means that while Wikipedia is essentially the most radically open encyclopaedia the world has ever seen, voices and perspectives are still being left out. This symposium seeks to engage with, and respond to, the wide range of questions that the Wikipedia gender gap example provokes, from archival literacies and labour issues to archival power distribution and emancipatory potentials.
